You know, life was much simpler in the military. If you were sent to a new base and you couldn’t find the chow hall, all you had to do is wait until noon and follow the crowd. Learning local fishing etiquette is harder. You probably don’t have someone showing you around the Harbor and teaching you the rights and wrongs. You’re more than likely going to learn the hard way, which is someone yelling at you on the water.

A lot of you go fishing to get away from it all, to escape the bustle of land life and to relax. Unfortunately, people gravitate towards other people. You see it at the beach. You’re the first one at the beach, you lay out all your stuff, and where do the next five people put their stuff? Yep, right next to yours. All that empty sand, and they’ve got to be right next to you. It’s no different when you’re fishing — all that water, and someone just has to fish right on top of you.
