The 2012 Flatsmasters Elite Pro Redfish Tour came to a close this weekend at Marina Jack in Sarasota, crowning a new champion with just 0.05 pounds separating the top dogs from the also-rans.
Day one saw 20 two-man teams run out of Sarasota’s Marina Jack at dawn Saturday and into a steady 15-knot northeast wind. A wind like this makes it difficult for anglers to spot redfish on the flats, and also can affect tidal flow. Fortunately, the wind dropped halfway through the fishing day, permitting the fishermen to take care of business.
