Venice's defense has been strong through four games, but its toughest test of the season will come Friday in Texas.

Flying halfway across the country the day before a football game is difficult enough for the college and pro athletes who do it regularly. The Venice Indians (3-1) will find out how well they adapt this week when they travel to Dallas to take on Texas powerhouse Plano East Senior High (4-0) Friday.

The Panthers defense — led by 6’1”, 180-pound defensive back Chris Smith and 6’3”, 230-pound linebacker Landis Durham — is allowing fewer than 12 points per game this season. Durham and Smith have combined for four interceptions in the Panthers’ last two games.
