The Venice High baseball team took its stingy pitching and defense to the extreme Saturday at the Perfect Game High School Showdown in Fort Myers, shutting out both of its opponents — Cartersville (Ga.) and Blessed Trinity (Ga.) — to finish the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record.

The shutouts came a day after the Indians completed the same feat against Savannah Christian (Ga.) and Parkview (Ga.), and extended Venice’s scoreless inning streak to 28.
