William M. Hamilton, age 83, of Venice, Fla., passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2013.
He was born April 14, 1930, in Alger, Mich. Bill graduated from Michigan State with a bachelors of arts degree in 1954, whereupon he was employed by Sherwin Williams as the personnel director in Cleveland, Ohio. He then moved to Venice, Fla., in 1964, where he joined his brother, Bob, in the home-building business. In 1977, Bill started William M. Hamilton Homes Inc. and Bill Hamilton Real Estate, which he ran until his retirement.
Bill had a great love of boating and became the commodore of the Venice Yacht Club in 1989. He was a Mason, a Shriner and an Elk.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lena; a son, William (Nancy) Hamilton of Zeeland, Mich.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nephews; and one niece.
Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandy; two brothers, Robert and Ralph Hamilton; and a sister, Erma Hamilton.
