Jacqueline Louise Schmidt, 87, of Venice, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at Venice Regional Medical Center.

Jackie was born March 31, 1925, in Troupsburg, N.Y., to James Frederick and Lena Mutch Rude. She graduated from Troupsburg High School.

Jackie was a keypunch operator at Strongburg Carlson in Rochester, N.Y., where she met her husband, Rudolph Schmidt. They were married at Troupsburg Baptist Church on Christmas Eve 1964. Jackie and Rudy lived in Rochester, N.Y. until their retirement, when they moved to Nokomis and built a new home.

Jackie loved to play guitar and ride horses when she was younger, Jackie and her first husband, Bill Thrall, had a radio program on WCBA, “Cowboy Bill and Little Jackie,” in Corning, N.Y.

Jackie was predeceased by her husband Rudolph Schmidt on March 27, 1992, and her sisters Florence Lowery, Lena Harkenrider and Marie Rude and brothers Harold Rude, Elwood Rude and Murray Rude.

Survivors include a brother, Frederick Rude of Lapeer, Mich.; a sister, Ethel Wood of Painted Post, N.Y.; many nieces and nephews; her beloved bird “Precious”; and caregiver and friend Julie Leason.

Services: Jackie’s wishes were that the ashes of her and her husband be spread in the Gulf of Mexico. Arrangements were entrusted to Farley Funeral Home, Venice.
