Considering a price tag as high as $72 million and no real timetable, the phrase “action plan” may seem a stretch for the measure approved last week by Sarasota County commissioners.
But the board did embark on a course that eventually could bring the Sheriff’s Office out of downtown Sarasota, which could consolidate law enforcement, emergency operations and training at a single location and bring them all closer to the interstate. “Action” may be far away, but it’s a good plan nevertheless.
