A ground-breaking ceremony Monday at Sarasota National Cemetery marks the true beginning of something that could transform national cemeteries throughout the country into showplaces for veterans’ tributes.

It occurred just days before the 71st anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor that brought the U.S. into World War II.
