Construction begins on new urgent care center

Sarasota Memorial Hospital is again seeking state permission to build a hospital in Venice, but it has added an obstetrics unit to its proposed 110-bed facility this time.

Affordable care for non-life-threatening conditions will be available to residents of North Venice island, Nokomis, Laurel and Osprey when a new clinic opens in Venice in the fall.

In the past few days, contractors have begun preparing to tear down the former Shrimper restaurant in readiness to build the new Venice Urgent Care & Ambulatory Center at 997 U.S. 41 Bypass North.
