Commission trio votes to sell spa
Within minutes of what was supposed to be a discussion Tuesday on the future operation and development of Warm Mineral Springs, North Port City Commissioner Cheryl Cook made a motion to sell the 81-acre day spa in its entirety.
Shocked, the other city commissioners wanted to engage in a slightly different conversation. However, the outcome didn’t change. The board voted 3-2, with commissioners Jim Blucher and Tom Jones dissenting, and Cook, Mayor Linda Yates and Commissioner Rhonda DiFranco agreeing, to sell the Springs. The meeting abruptly ended without the board hashing out a short-term plan.
