24 arrests made
in undercover
drug investigation

FORT MEADE (AP) — Twenty-four arrests were made during an undercover drug investigation in Polk County, but authorities are still searching for four suspects.
A sheriff’s office statement says members of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Drug Unit began the investigation in the area of Fort Meade. Undercover detectives purchased powder cocaine, crack cocaine, and cannabis from street level drug dealers over a three-month time period. During the investigation, detectives obtained charges on 11 different individuals resulting from drug transactions.
On Friday detectives and deputies executed simultaneous search warrants. A shotgun, drugs and cash were also seized.
Seven individuals were arrested, but four others are still on the run. Another 17 individuals were arrested for assorted narcotics violations.
