As a precaution, Publix Super Markets has issued a voluntary recall of 45 various cake products that contain a 7-inch chocolate layer cake that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Maplehurst Bakeries, Publix’s supplier, notified the company of the contamination of these bakery products, which were distributed to Publix stores in Sarasota and Charlotte counties between Nov. 11 and 15. Potentially contaminated products also went to stores in to Brevard, Citrus, Collier, Flagler, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Lake, Lee, Manatee, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia counties. All of the products still in the stores have been disposed of.
