Pirates record shutout
PORT CHARLOTTE — With the game nearly over Thursday evening, Port Charlotte High’s Tyler Sulton laced a free kick past Braden River goalkeeper Ian Crawford. The ball was a little wide, so Nick Dunakey tried to head it in. It hit the outside of the net and bounced out of bounds.
Dunakey was clearly angry with himself, but he didn’t need to worry; nearly an hour before, he hit a header from a corner kick by DJ Botts. That one did go in, and it was all Port Charlotte needed for a 1-0 victory.
