NORTH PORT — Baseball, basketball and football have always been popular with North Port youth, but the largest team sport in this town is soccer.

“We have over 540 kids playing in the fall season, and almost 600 in the spring ...” said North Port Youth Soccer League president Bill Callan. “Only around 200 of those kids play both seasons.”
