Dorothy M. Hart, 89, passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Jan. 10, 1924, in Macedonia, Ohio, to Henry and Arlene (nee Van Nostran) Holbrook.
Dorothy and her four children moved to Port Charlotte, Fla., in 1973. Before her marriage she was an Assistant Manager of the Beauty Salon at the old May Company on Public Square in Cleveland, Ohio. In Florida she was a Unit Secretary at Medical Center Hospital for 17 years. After her retirement she went back to Charlotte Regional Medical Center as a Volunteer in the Surgical Waiting Room, she volunteered for about six years.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Linda Hart of Port Charlotte; her sons, James (Angela) Hart of Chattanooga, Tenn., Keith (Diane) Hart of Sarasota, Fla., and Dan Hart of Port Charlotte; grandchildren, Cheryl Hart (Steve) Groves of Port Charlotte, Jimmy (Brittany), Catie, Torey and Rylie Hart of Chattanooga, Michael Messina of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Danielle Hart of Sarasota; great-grandchildren, Tillie, Ryan and Caleigh of Chattanooga, and Carter Groves of Port Charlotte; sisters, Gail (Charles) Exton of Northfield, Ohio, andBetty (Walt) Bartley of Mount Vernon, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Rita (AL) Flanagan of Richfield, Ohio, and Catherine (Lawrence) Politzer of Burton, Ohio; brother-in-law, Robert Hart of Senecaville, Ohio; and many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leo, in 1962; and her sister, Jean Adams, in 2005.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 11 a.m. until the celebration of Dorothy’s life at noon Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, from Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Port Charlotte Chapel, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte.
