Members of the Punta Gorda Chamber of Comemrce collected money for a new Pelican Pond at the Peace Rover Wildlife Center, and the ribbon cutting to celebrate its official opening was Nov. 8.

The holiday season in Punta Gorda kicks off at 5 p.m. Nov. 15 with Gallery Walk, where an air of good tidings will float through the town.

Music will fill the streets, with the sounds of the Lee County Pipes and Drums being heard throughout the downtown area. Also, music and caroling with be provided by Brenda Peck, and the Good Shepherd Day School Orchestra will perform by the tree in front of the Old Historic Courthouse on Taylor Street and Olympia Avenue between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. The band Chakulla and Me will perform in front of the Punta Gorda Chamber office, on the corner of Sullivan Street and Marion Avenue.
