PUNTA GORDA — Larry Taylor smiled as he prepared to read off the total number of socks the Punta Gorda Kiwanis Club collected in its Socks for Kids program.

It was a sunny Saturday afternoon, and the end of the “Fill the Trunk” event at the Slip Not, a car show where the participants brought socks and the full number of donations were tallied.
