MIAMI (AP) — Firefighters with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue are handing out 180 turkeys to needy senior citizens.

Firefighters from the Fontainebleau and Sweetwater fire stations are hosting the turkey giveaway. Winn-Dixie Supermarkets, Medical Priority Pharmacy and the City of Sweetwater are helping.

A city statement says for the second year in a row, district firefighters donated a portion of the money used to purchase the turkeys.

The event will take place Saturday at the Jorge Mas Canosa Youth Center.
