SARASOTA — Ro’Derick Spears’ face noticeably fell when he was told his winning time in the 110-meter hurdles at the Ram Invitational Friday was only 14.74 seconds — matching his North Port High School record.

But he was much more chipper a few hours later when the Bobcat boys were putting the finishing touches on winning the meet, their second victory in a row to start the season.
