PORT CHARLOTTE — Port Charlotte High School gave up 14 hits, committed two costly errors and had trouble figuring out Manatee starter Scott Kelly on Friday night.

But the Hurricanes let the Pirates hang around, allowing them to come to within one before loading the bases in the bottom of the seventh to put the Pirates away 8-5 in the District 4A-10 opener for both teams.
