For most college baseball teams based in the Northeast, upper Midwest or the mountains, spring break trips to Florida aren’t a luxury; they are a necessity.
Winter temperatures, snow and frozen grounds usually make it nearly impossible for teams to practice outside or train under game conditions until mid- to late-March. For some schools, the trip to the Snowbird Baseball Classic may be the first time they have been outside for truly productive practice time.
