PUNTA GORDA — Charlotte County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the use of a credit card “skimmer” at a Pilot Gas Station located on the 26500 block of Jones Loop Road. The skimmer was used on pump 10, according to a report.

The Economic Crimes Unit is trying to alert motorists who might have used a credit or debit card at the pump on or around Feb. 9. The report said the skimmer is able to capture credit card numbers and transmit the information to a receiver.
