Thomas Andrew Tedford Jr., 80, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of East Hartford, Conn., passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2013.

Born July 23, 1932, in Hartford, to Vera (nee Peterson) and Thomas A. Tedford Sr.

Thomas served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1953-1955. A former Connecticut State Government Corrections Business Manager, he retired to Port Charlotte in 1994 from his longtime home of East Hartford. Thomas was a member and 12-year coach for the East Hartford Little League, Chairman of the East Hartford YMCA Board of Managers from 1972-1973, the Indian Guides, the UConn. Alumni Association, and life member of the Loyal Order of Moose, B.P.O. Elks, V.F.W., and American Legion. He was an avid golfer, teaching his sons to play and achieved seven holes in one in his golf career.

Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Doris (nee Beyer) Tedford; sons, Kent (Erika nee Haynes) Tedford, Andrew (Susan) Tedford, and Thomas (Lisa) Tedford; and nine grandchildren, Molly, Maddie, Mabel, Maxwell, Owen, Megan, Alison, Kara, and Ryan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Vera Tedford.

A Memorial Service celebrating Thomas’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Roberson Funeral Homes, Port Charlotte Chapel. Another Memorial Service, date to be announced later, will be held this June in East Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 992 Tamiami Trail No. C2, Port Charlotte, FL 33953-3886, or to a charity of choice. Friends may visit www.robersonfh.com to sign the memory book and extend condolences to the family.
