Beverly Ann Doan
Beverly Ann Doan, 79, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012.
She was born in Toledo, Ohio, in 1933.
Beverly became a registered nurse after completion of the nursing program at Flower Hospital in Ohio. She moved to Miami, Fla., in 1954 to join her parents, and moved permanently to Port Charlotte in 1974. Beverly was the director of the operating room at the former Medical Center in Punta Gorda, Fla., for many years. She then joined the practice of John Moenning, M.D. Beverly retired in 1995 to take care of her beloved grandson, Zachary. She had a passion for reading and a love of animals. Beverly also volunteered in the library at Peace River Elementary School. Her compassion for others never wavered.
Beverly is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Ron) Ward of Port Charlotte, and Susan (Lance) Waldrop of Fruitland Park, Fla.; grandson, Zachary Ward of Port Charlotte; nephews; nieces; and friends.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at the First Alliance Church, 20444 Midway Blvd., Port Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Beverly’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association to help fund a cure, 4075 Tamiami Trail, Suite 2, Port Charlotte, FL 33952; or Tidewell Hospice Inc. for their care and support., 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
Arrangements were made in Port Charlotte.
