Beverly Ann Doan

Beverly Ann Doan, 79, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012.

She was born in Toledo, Ohio, in 1933.

Beverly became a registered nurse after completion of the nursing program at Flower Hospital in Ohio. She moved to Miami, Fla., in 1954 to join her parents, and moved permanently to Port Charlotte in 1974. Beverly was the director of the operating room at the former Medical Center in Punta Gorda, Fla., for many years. She then joined the practice of John Moenning, M.D. Beverly retired in 1995 to take care of her beloved grandson, Zachary. She had a passion for reading and a love of animals. Beverly also volunteered in the library at Peace River Elementary School. Her compassion for others never wavered.

Beverly is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Ron) Ward of Port Charlotte, and Susan (Lance) Waldrop of Fruitland Park, Fla.; grandson, Zachary Ward of Port Charlotte; nephews; nieces; and friends.

A memorial service will be held in her honor at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at the First Alliance Church, 20444 Midway Blvd., Port Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Beverly’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association to help fund a cure, 4075 Tamiami Trail, Suite 2, Port Charlotte, FL 33952; or Tidewell Hospice Inc. for their care and support., 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.

Arrangements were made in Port Charlotte.

Sandy and Susan What fun we had with your mom, she was always there for everyone and we share in your loss. Our time working together goes back a long way and even though we know time may change things, the memories we have never do. Jean Sandy and Susan It was always pleasure working with Bev. She treated patients by the " Golden Rule" and always with professionalism and dignity.These qualities were hard to find then and even more so now. Dear Sandy and Susie, We are indeed saddened by the news of your Mom's passing.I shared a unique working and personal realtionship with her over many years at Medical Center and after she moved on from there.She was indeed a special lady and I feel very fortunate that our paths crosssed in this life.She will always be remembered by us with the greatest respect and affection.
