Ethel Louise Jones

Ethel Louise Jones, 81, passed away at home Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, to join her husband, Carl Casey “Sand Brim” Jones in heaven.

She was born in McMinnville, Tenn.

Ethel moved to Punta Gorda, Fla., in the ’50s. She had humble beginnings, but Ethel was a lady and was loved by all who knew her. She loved to fish, can vegetables, make jellies and preserves, and was a great cook. Ethel never drank alcohol or learned to swim. She taught us all good life skills and to love one another.

Ethel is survived by her sisters, Moody Cribbs and Faye Wilburn of Flintville, Tenn.; sons and daughters, LeRoy (Carol) Jones of West Columbia, Texas, Jimmie Jones of Freeport, Texas, Linda (Jerry) Parsons of Pensacola, Fla., Gary (Jean) Mooney of Ashville, Ala., Larry (Linda) Mooney of Oneonta, Ala., Patricia (Mike) Mason of Punta Gorda, Peggy Ogle of Punta Gorda, June Jones of Punta Gorda, Charles (Bettyann) Jones of Port Charlotte, Fla., William Jones of Punta Gorda, and Johnny (Cecilea) Jones of Walnut, Miss.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sand Brim Jones, in 1994; mother, Alta Mae Smith; stepson, Carlos Jones; stepdaughter, Katherine LaGrassa; daughter, Sarah Holley; brother, Chuck Wilburn; and sister, Barbara Wilburn.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the funeral service at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda, FL 33950. The Rev. Rick McDonald will officiate. Inurnment will be at Indian Springs Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mark C. Droffner and his staff for their extraordinary care and kindness for this special lady, our Mom. Thanks to Tidewell Hospice and its staff for their tender and great care.
