Bernard William Senkel

Bernard William Senkel, 82 of Fairview, NC and Punta Gorda, FL died Wednesday, November 14th at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center in Black Mountain. He was born May 14th, 1930 in Jean, TX to the late Bennie William and Beulah (Duke) Senkel.

Mr. Senkel was a retired officer of the U.S Air Force, acquiring the rank of Lt. Colonel. He logged over 500 combat flight hours as a navigator on B-52’s during the Korean and Viet-Nam conflicts, also earning the Distinguished Service Cross. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Punta Gorda, FL, and most recently he attended Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher, NC.

He was preceded in death by his aforementioned parents and his wife, Nina Senkel.

He is survived by two daughters, Sheryl Hart (Randy) and Stacia Senkel (Kevin Cohen); and two grandchildren, Christopher Goulette (Stacy) and Wesley Hart.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a date to be determined later.
