Raymond A. Evans

Raymond A. Evans, 91, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012.

He was born in Byesville, Ohio.

Raymond lived many years in North Wales, Pa., then retired to Port Charlotte in 1979. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Raymond worked 29 years as an Engineer with Merck, Sharpe and Dohme in West Point, Pa. He was a member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ, and was a past Master of the Punta Gorda Masonic Lodge 115 F & AM. Raymond was a member of the Fort Myers Scottish Rite, the Punta Gorda Scottish Rite, the Fort Myers York Rite, Araba Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. in Fort Myers, Fla., and the Charlotte County Shrine Club.

He is survived by his sons, Stephen Snyder and Raymond Snyder; sister, Bonnie Ambrose; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and friend and companion, Mary Bailey of Port Charlotte. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Julia K. Evans.
