Ellin-Jane Parshley, 83, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012.

She was born Dec. 24, 1928, in New York, N.Y.

Ellin-Jane moved to this area 26 years ago with her husband, John, from Long Island, N.Y. She was a retired teacher in New York and an Advocate of ALA-TEEN.

Ellin-Jane is survived by her daughters, Lynn (Joe) Freda of Port Charlotte and Gail (Michael) Rewkowski of Port Charlotte; son, Alan (Barbara) of Kent, N.Y.; grandchildren, Rena Beth Padgett, Veronica Johnston, Danielle Parshley, Jessie Parshley, Michelle Freda, Laura Parshley, Joseph Freda, Kellie Parshley, and Tyler Parshley; and great-grandchildren, Oliva Michelle and A.J.

A celebration of her life will be held from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at 20398 Albury Dr., Port Charlotte, FL. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 992 Tamiami Trl., Suite C-2, Port Charlotte, FL 33953.

Arrangements were made in Port Charlotte.
