Lewis A. Maxam, 89, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012.

He was born Nov. 25, 1922, in Hadley, N.Y.

Lewis was employed by International Paper Co., and later was employed at Stewarts Ice Cream Company, both in New York. He moved to Port Charlotte in 2003 from Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Lewis is survived by his wife, Doris; son, David L. Maxam of Clearwater, Fla.; daughter, Kathleen (William) Jewett; and granddaughter, Danielle Jewett, all of Port Charlotte.

Services are private. Donations can be made in his name to TideWell Hospice Inc., 1158 Veronica St., Port Charlotte, FL 33952.

Arrangements are with National Cremation Society of Port Charlotte.
