Gabriella Suzanne “Gaby” Mackey, 73, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and a longtime resident of Teaneck, N.J., died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at home.

Gaby was born June 6, 1938, in Budapest, Hungary.

She received a B.S. from Boston College and a Master’s from Georgetown University. Gaby worked in pharmaceutical research before teaching advanced high school chemistry for 25 years. She was an avid bridge player. Gaby was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda. She will be strongly remembered, and greatly missed, by all who knew her.

Gaby is survived by her devoted husband, Paul A. Mackey of Punta Gorda; son, Kim (Meghan) Mackey, M.D., of Middleton, Wis.; daughter, Jennifer (Mark) Carlson of Broomfield, Colo.; four stepchildren, Debra Ober, Wendy Kydd, Paul S. Mackey and Carol Mackey-Jones; and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Roberson Funeral Home in Punta Gorda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda.
