Parents please
read to children
Editor:
As an educator, I see firsthand the benefits of reading to and with children every day. In a VPK program (Voluntary Pre Kindergarten), children are taught the basics: letter recognition, letter sounds and other beginning reading skills. For children to have an advantage, reading must happen at home too. Reading with children can happen in many ways. It can be as simple as pointing out familiar letters and signs you see while driving, reading bedtime stories and/or playing games made specifically with reading in mind.
