Cuban brown snails go crunch

Brought to Florida intentionally by a naturalist in the early 1900s, the Cuban brown snail has succeeded like many other exotic invasive creatures.

Wet weather is snail weather and these mollusks are on the move.

One of the most common and vexing snails we have locally is the Cuban brown snail. Just recently, I was out in our office parking lot on a rainy day and found several gliding across the asphalt. On a good day they supposedly can travel 30 inches a minute.
