PUNTA GORDA — When Sarita Rueda’s fiancé enlisted in the U.S. Army immediately following the attack on Pearl Harbor, she decided that because New York City had no more eligible men she would join as well.
That decision sent the 100-year-old Port Charlotte resident halfway around the world performing a most interesting job — censoring the mail of G.I.s writing home to their friends and loved ones.
