PUNTA GORDA — A man who was charged with raping an 11-year-old runaway girl has requested a speedy trial.

A trial date was set for April 8 for Christopher Maurice Roberts, 37, of Fleming Island, Fla., on Monday when Roberts went before 20th Judicial Circuit Judge George Richards at the Charlotte County Justice Center during a pretrial conference.
