UPDATE: Missing woman found

UPDATE: The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office reports that the missing 77-year-old South Punta Gorda Heights woman was found in Tampa at the Amtrak terminal about to board a train bound for Virginia.

Roberta Carol Woodward of the 26000 block of Hapsburg Road was reported missing by her family to CCSO at 1:11 p.m. The family said they last saw her about 9 a.m. this morning. Detectives and deputies located a taxi driver who said he took Woodward to the bus station in Port Charlotte. Further investigation learned that she bought an Amtrak ticket bound for Virginia. CCSO contacted Tampa Police and they went to the terminal. Amtrak was due to depart at 5:17 p.m. and police got there in time as she was about to board the train. The CCSO Watch Commander said Woodward who has Alzheimer’s was evaluated and will be reunited with her family.
