Buying into the bunt
BRADENTON — Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon knows bunting isn’t a glamorous part of a player’s offensive game. But he wants the Rays to try to bunt for hits more in order to help from a team standpoint.
“What I’m trying to sell them on from the beginning is the number of really situational at-bats,” Maddon said. “Might be 40 or 50 where you’re really caught up in the situation and the team needs you to be fully bought into the team concept.”
