PLACIDA — For more than 25 years, the Albritton family has served local seafood at their famous Fishery restaurant overlooking Gasparilla Sound at the junction of Placida and Gasparilla roads.

On May 1, Port Charlotte Doctor Mark Asperilla will take over ownership of the restaurant. Asperilla said Wednesday he has purchased the restaurant for “an undisclosed price,” and wants to maintain its historic character while enhancing it with flat-screen TVs for its bar, along with other amenities.
