The staff and students at Charlotte High School knew Joe Spieldenner was a star when he appeared in every theater production there until he graduated in 1995.

Now the stars have aligned to bring him back to the area in the first national tour of “Les Miserables.” The show opened at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota Tuesday and runs through Sunday. It’s at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Center in Fort Myers from March 12 to March 17.
