Saturday BBQ cooks up some good eatin’

The overall Grand Champion at the Down Home Downtown Barbecue contest was Mullis Meat Makin'. Several teams competed in pork, ribs, chicken and brisket. The event was held in conjunction with the Olde Town Market and Main Street Market, held the first Saturday of every month.

Nothing like the scent of good BBQ smoke on a Saturday morning. The barbecue contest sponsors include Mosaic, DeSoto Correctional Institution, City Vapor and E-Cig, Peddlee's Boutique, Susan Cavas Smith and Peace River Delectables.

Three C BBQ was judged to have the best brisket. The barbecue cookoff was held in conjunction with the Olde Town Market on Saturday in downtown Arcadia.

ARCADIA — The Olde Town Market of Team Arcadia and the Main Street market teamed up Saturday to bring the Down Home Downtown Barbecue contest to Arcadia. Several teams competed for awards in four categories and an overall grand winner.

Winners were: Grand Champion — Mullis Meat Makin’; Pork — DeSoto County 4-H, sponsored by Mosaic; Chicken — Carlton Horses and Hay; Ribs — Big Country BBQ; and Brisket — 3-C BBQ.
