PUNTA GORDA — About 36 residents ages 7 through 80 celebrated Florida’s 168th birthday by running buck-wild through the backwoods brush at Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park on Sunday afternoon.

However, participant Delaina Jordan, 8, said the only “nature” she saw while running the 5K was some “hog skin” and a “weird looking bird with a blue head and gray wings.”
