Rays re-assign pitchers

PORT CHARLOTTE — Tampa Bay re-assigned pitchers Matt Nevarez, Jim Paduch, Jimmy Patterson and Neil Schenk to minor league camp, which began Saturday. The cuts were the first to the Rays’ 66-man spring training roster.
The Rays had invited a large number of pitchers because of the split-squad games on the first day of spring training.
