Red tide spreading stench in area waters

ENGLEWOOD — Beach patrons do need a weatherman to tell which way the wind is blowing — as long as red tide algae lingers in the Gulf of Mexico.

Don Pedro resident Ken Conner reported Wednesday that the concentrations of the toxic algae had “come back with a vengeance.” The winds stirred up the surf and he assumed the red tide was being blown in from the Gulf.
