PUNTA GORDA — The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office reports that the March. 16 Civilian Gun Safety Course pre-registration reached capacity and has scheduled an additional class March 23. Public pre-registration is open now for the March 23 class, which runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an hour for lunch. The class will be held at the CCSO training building, 25500 Airport Road in Punta Gorda.

According to Sgt. Greg Kalosis: “If you have your own firearm, you’ll need to bring it, along with 50 rounds of ammunition (no reloads). Completion of this handgun safety course can meet one of the requirements for a concealed weapons permit.” Hearing and eye protection will be provided and class space is limited. Cost of the course is $35 by check or money order, payable to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office. If you do not have your own weapon, or need further information about the course, please call Kalosis at 941-575-5367. Registration is limited and all participants must be pre-registered.
