NORTH PORT — Authorities arrested a North Port woman this week after they say she planned a murder-for-hire scheme and paid an undercover officer to carry out the task, according to the Sarasota Police Department.

Janeene Lea Jones, 49, of the 2500 block of Beaver Terrace, was charged with two counts of solicitation to commit first-degree murder in connection with the incident. She was arrested at 1:35 p.m. Monday on the 1200 block of Toledo Blade Blvd.
