Hoping to offset the cost of converting some 2,000 properties in the East and West Spring Lake area from septic tanks to sewer lines, the Charlotte County Commission Tuesday authorized staff to go after a $1 million grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

Commissioners voted unanimously to allow Charlotte County Utilities staff to prepare and submit a grant application to the state agency.
