PUNTA GORDA — The manager of the Hertz Rent-a-Car at the Punta Gorda Airport was arrested Saturday afternoon for allegedly stealing a handgun that a customer had left inside a car, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

Douglas John Orr, 32, 22500 block of Bolanos Court, Port Charlotte, was charged with grand theft of a firearm after he allegedly put the gun in his trunk but told the customer that he turned the missing Springfield Armory .45-caliber firearm over to the CCSO.
