PUNTA GORDA — For Charlotte High School, Thursday night’s 5-3 win marked a home-opening victory and a move to a winning record. For Port Charlotte, the crosstown rivalry was another disappointment in a short season of frustration.
The Tarpons used two big hits in a four-run third inning to take the lead for good, but had to rely on good defense and clutch pitching to weather a nailbiter in the final two innings.
