PUNTA GORDA — The City Council on Wednesday unanimously agreed to lease the city’s Bayfront Center to the Charlotte County Family YMCA to provide a “community center” and a sailing instruction program, according to the Y’s business plan.

To begin making that plan reality, the Y has already hired a part-time sailing program director, retired Charlotte High School science teacher and longtime sailor Lynn Tidwell, said Randy Dunn, past president of the Y.
