PUNTA GORDA — 2012 was a banner year for saxophonist-singer-songwriter Mindi Abair.

Millions of people watched as the Florida native rocked out with “American Idol” winner Philip Phillips on season 11 of the hit TV talent show. And fans cheered as she jammed alongside music icons Aerosmith during the band’s international Global Warming Tour.
