Church holds fundraiser for woman with cancer

Kellie and Justin Brown were married in Nov. 2011. Kellie suffers from myleoproliferative disease, a rare form of leukemia. Gulf Cove United Methodist Church, 1100 McCall Road, (State Road 776), Port Charlotte, is organizing a fundraiser for 12:15 p.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 24 to help with medical expenses.

ENGLEWOOD — Kellie Brown was living a fulfilling life as a nursing assistant and a newly wed in Nov. 2011. She never imagined that in five months she would be engaged in a long, tiring battle with cancer.
Now, with finances drained and medical bills piling up, a local church is stepping in to help.
